Say What?

I have loved this book and, If you give a Moose a Muffin, since I was a kid. These books are so fun and silly but also a great way to teach sequencing. I would use these in first and second grade for sure. Along with these books I would have students put in order or list the sequence of events and maybe even draw them.

This story is a classic and teaches such a sweet lesson on being kind to everyone no matter what it takes and going out of your way to help others especially those who can't help themselves. I would use this book k through fourth and I would do so much with it. Especially during the time of Dr. Seuss week to teach about all of his amazing writing.

I am in love with this book. After I read it I just couldn't believe how adorable it was and such a nice change of pace from the big bad wolf that we are use to as readers. My professor suggested using it in a classroom study of all the different types of three little pig stories and I love that idea of teaching children how many different ways a text can be interpreted. I would use this for sure in second and third grade.

The king who Rained, what a fun play on words and a great book to teach children about homophones. This book could be used first through fifth really and could serve many purposes in the classroom. It would be fun to have students come up with their own homophone illustration and present them.

I was really excited when I saw these Cam Jansen books. Cam was my hero as a child. All of her adventures and most of all her photographic memory! These book would be great for third grade and for the classroom library. It would even be fun to use to talk about prediction. Maybe have student listen as a class to a couple chapters then have them predict what will happen. 

Oh the Magic School Bus, what an empire of knowledge they have built. These books are great to use in the classroom I feel for any grade, but mostly first through fourth. Mrs. Frizzle and the gang teach great lessons on so many topics. This is just one of many books. These are great for teaching science and helping kids relate. Most of them have a video to match also which is great for helping some students who are very visual.

I had the opportunity to read a Fancy Nancy book in a teachers classroom that I was observing. Nancy is such a fun lovable character and she reminded me of myself. I would use this book in second or third grade. These books are a great way to inspire students to grow and develop their vocabulary.All of the big words Nancy uses and then explains is a great way for students to understand and grow their own vocabulary.

Amelia Bedelia is a fun loving character for probably first and second graders. Amelia makes mistakes and  gets confused quite often. She is a great way for students to learn that everyone makes mistakes and it's ok to do so. I would use these in my classroom library for students to have access to.

This is just one of the many Junie B. Jones books. I have always loved Junie B. (the B stands for Beatrice!). She is an energetic little girl who is just curious about the world. She gets into trouble but she learns from her mistakes and mostly has the best interest of others at heart. This is a great book for about 3rd grade to have in the classroom library for students to read the whole series and follow her on her journeys. I would advise warning students that some of her grammar is not correct and to be mindful of how we should spell and speak.
